Tookeys coffee shop is run by volunteers. It helps the church to fulfil its
mission, and also forms part of its outreach to the community as it provides a
place of respite, refreshment, warmth and welcome as shown by the following
extract from the volunteers handbook. 'Welcome to Tookeys Coffee Shop and to our team of volunteers. We hope you
will enjoy . . . meeting people and welcoming them. We try to provide a
place where people can enjoy their refreshment in pleasant, clean and friendly
surroundings. It is our job to see that we do this as professionally as we
possibly can. '
The coffee shop serves sandwiches and scones (made on the premises by
volunteers); a range of canned drinks and confectionery; and also tea, coffee and
snacks from the Fair Trade Just Sharing shop that is also in the building. On Monday it
is market day in St. Ives and Tookeys is very busy with an expanded menu to include
bacon and egg rolls and other hot snacks.
